Hilma "Lucy" Land

Ms. Hilma Lucille “Lucy” Land of Paramount, California passed away Thursday, February 8, 2024 on her 85th birthday.

Lucy was born in Macon, Georgia on February 8, 1939. Her parents Oscar J. Land and Mamie Land Jones preceded her in death.  Lucy grew up around Griffin and Barnesville, Georgia.  She moved to California in her early twenties where she resided for 62 years, 40 of those in Paramount, CA.   Lucy had a love of music, specifically country music, and dancing.  She loved a good road trip to explore new places, and traveled throughout the United States, but the South was always her favorite place.  In her free time, she loved to bake and read her Bible.  Billy Graham was one of her favorite Pastors.  Lucy was independent, determined, and always did things her way. She loved the beach and her favorite place to visit was Knott’s Berry Farm.

Survivors include children, Linda and Quentin McBride of Bostwick, Florida, Lois and Ed Fay of Manteca, California, James McElwain of Manteca, California; grandchildren, Jeff, Lindsay, James, Tripp, Chase, Ana, Nicole, LaDonna, Keith; great grandchildren, Bradley, Megan, Gracie, Olivia, James Jr., Tziporia, Ellaria, Joshua, Jaasiel; great great grandson, Michael; brother, William T. Land; nieces, Sharon Johnson, Deborah Land; several other nieces and nephews.

A Graveside Memorial Service for Ms. Land will be Saturday, March 23, 2024 at 1:00 pm in Oak Hill Cemetery.
