Tribute

Mr. Gregory Allen Bloomer, age 54, of Griffin, Georgia, passed away peacefully Monday, March 18, 2024.

Greg was born in Knoxville, TN on September 3, 1969.  He worked as a corrections officer for the Spalding County Parks and Recreation Department.

Greg's infectious smile was his trademark and was simply irresistible.  His passion for coaching boys and young men, the game of baseball, brought immense joy to his life.  This was evident in the legacy that he left in the hearts of those players.  His motto was "Give it all you've got" and that is exactly what he did throughout his battle.  He played many roles in his life, but his favorite was being a wonderful Dad to his son, Gregory.  He took pride in teaching him how to play baseball, as well as the other hobbies that they enjoyed together.  He taught him many small life lessons that are instilled in him today.  He taught him how to treat others and be a great man.  By far, the easiest thing that Greg has done, is love his wife.  He was devoted, faithful, and cherished her beyond words.  He made sure he was the one to make any sacrifice to provide all he could for his family.  He enjoyed all things sports including baseball, golf, bowling, disc golf, umpiring, and anything else competitive.  He may have let the competitiveness get the best of him by making a quick call to place a bet.  Topping off his sports passion, was his absolute obsession of being a TN Vols fan.  Go Rocky Top!!

Greg was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn Edward and Shirley Bloomer; his grandparents, Robert and Pauline McGhee and Mack and Ida Bloomer; and his grandmother in law, Ida Campagnano.

His survivors include his wife Joyce, of 27 years; son, Gregory; brother and sister in law, Eddie and Melanie Bloomer; mother in law, Carol Chouinard; sister in law, Denise Demanti;  sister and brother in law, Christine and Michael Glennon; nieces and nephews, Jamie Riess, Ashely and Max Martin, Ryan Ogden, Kayla Bloomer, Austin and Brooke Bloomer, Mason Evans and Elizabeth Evans; and several great nephews.  He also leaves behind numerous wonderful friends and coworkers.

A celebration of life will be Saturday, March 23rd at 6:30 at Foxhound Farms 282 Fox Rd. Griffin.  In honor of Greg's love for TN sports, it is requested that you wear orange.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Spalding County Athletic Association.
